Prasat Muang Singh historical park in Thailand.
Prasat Muang Singh historical park
Muang Singh (City of Lions) is about 40 kilometers from Kanchanaburi town to the northwest, is
situated in Sai Yok district along the Kwai Noi river. It's
the westernmost site as a Khmer related remains, and it turned to
"Prasat Muang Singh Historical Park" in 1987.
This ruins built with laterite blocks were constructed around
twentieth century
as an outpost of the Khmer Muang Singh empire. The centre of the ancient kingdom of the Khmer is the current Cambodia
next to Thailand to the east. That is,
the Khmer empire extended west as far as here, Muang Singh.
The remains were built in the Bayon style, in the reign of
King Jayavarman VII (1181-1215).

Monument No.1
|
This is the Monument No.1.
Talking of Khmer remains, Phimai Historical Park in Korat, the gateway to Issan (Northeast area of Thailand), comes to
my mind. The site of Phimai ruins is surrounded by the walls, 1020
meters (north and south) by 580 meters (east and west). On the other hand,
this site is 800 meters (north and south) by 1,400 meters (east and west).
The size of this site can be said quite big also as the Phimai
ruins is said to be a critical site next to the capital of Khmer Empire
from the size. |

|
Stairs
I don't know if this stairs were like this when they were built but it's
very hard to go up this narrow and steep steps.
