Thailand - Phitsanulok
Photo Gallery of Phitsanulok.

As legend goes, the name of " Phitsanulok " means "LOK (world) of Vishnu, a form of God in Hinduism".
Phitsanulok is located on the banks of the Nan River, 500 km away north of Bangkok, around the middle between Bangkok and Chiangmai.
Phitsanulok is famous for places to visit such as Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat ( or Wat Yai) that which enshrines a Buddha statue that people say it's the most beautiful Buddha statue in Thailand and Night Market.

[Phitsanulok] Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat |
|||||
This temple, Wat Phar Sri Ratana Mahathat, was built in the reign of Phra Maha Thamma Racha I (Phraya Lithai) in 1357. It's located along the Nan River (Maenam Nan) and very beautiful, brightly
lit at night. (I dropped by here at night but no picture. ... sad...) My wife's family told me that there is a very beautiful statue here, that is, " Phra Buddha Chinarat" that people say the most beautiful Buddha statue in Thailand. Let's go and see the temple now. :)

[Phitsanulok] Inside the army base |
|||
Photos taken inside the army base at night in Phitsanulok in Thailand. There were facilities of the army and we asked them to enter and see around. There was a statue of King Naresuan the Great (Phra Naresuan), one of the three great kings in Thai history. Naresuan the Great was the 21th king of Ayuttaya kingdom and was called " Sampet II" as well. He was born in Phitsanulok and was handed over to the Burmese as a kind of hostage in his childhood. Later, he returned back to Siam (Thailand), developed military forces and liberated Ayutthaya from Burma. His younger brother is " Phra Ekatosrost ", elder sister is " Phra Supankalaya ". |
